The graying lion-man brushed the tassel of his night-cap out of his eyes and watched the pack of canine Keepers scrambled out of sight into the darkness before slamming the window shut. "Blasted noisy kids."

Back in bed, his wife just shook her head and smiled in wry amusement. No matter the changes the Curse brought, teenagers would still be teenagers, and grumpy old men would still be grumpy old men. She wrapped her husband in her arms when he climbed back under the covers, and kissed him anyway.
